JRSO
After an interview process, our successful Junior Road Safety Officers for this year are Rowan, Lena and Kenny!  Well done!

Kenny P7, Rowan P7 and Lena P7 all a very fun and informative day at the JRSO Open Day recently at Chatelherault, and they learned loads!   They said they got to explore lots of different safety regulations and Rowan liked seeing some of her friends which she hadn’t seen in a long time.  They learned how good electric cars are for the environment but how dangerous they are because you can’t hear them, and you need to look even more than usual to cross the road safely.  Lena’s favourite bit was going on the special ‘smoothie bicycle’ which gave the power to make a smoothie which they then got to enjoy!  Lena said it was quite tricky to ride the bike though!  Kenny and Lena made a raspberry and apple juice one.  They loved the freebies – pencils, notepads, lanyards which will be used as prizes for the competitions that they will run through the year for the children to learn about road safety.  All in all, it was a brilliant day – they even had free biscuits – and met Ziggy the mascot for Road Safety!  The other mention was for all the beeping horns on the big lorryt!  They learned a lot about what to do in their new roles.

Young Leaders of Learning
After an interview process, our successful Young Leaders of Learning for this year are Alfie, Michael, Craig and Pyper!  Well done!

Our Young Leaders of Learning (Pyper, Craig, Alfie and Michael) are going to be going a little further afield this year!  We are partnering with Glengowan Primary in Larkhall, Tinto and Wiston Primaries and we will be planning dates after the October holidays to get together. Each school's Young Leaders will take turns to host the other school representatives with the aim of sharing good practice and learning new ideas to bring back to their own schools as well as making new friends. We are very excited for the project to start - watch out for further details coming up soon.
